Purposes

This document defines the specifications for a new ontology representing business objects related to enterprise web site. The new ontology called Business Object Ontology (BOON) is designed for publishing web site information in semantic data format (i.e. RDF/OWL). Representing information on web site as semantic data enables semantic search engines to search the site more precisely. Any web site can use this ontology to add semantic web features and capabilities to the site and thus immediately benefit from the emerging semantic web, including search engine optimization and more effective data sharing and integration.

Open Development Process

This ontology is initiated and maintained by web2express.org.
It is developed through open communities. Community support is crucial to ensure the ontology is meeting the various needs of the participants.
As a general guide, this ontology should try to re-use as many existing ontology classes and properties as possible from well-established ontologies including SKOS, DC, and FOAF.
Everyone are welcome to contribute.
